New Products I NEED to Rave About feat. Laneige, Etude House, and PureVivi

I find it a chore to write about hauls, which I prefer just calling ‘new purchases’. But recently I bought products that are so good it would be a disservice to beauty blogosphere if I didn’t share them…stat.

Let’s begin.

PureVivi Cleansing Lotion for Sensitive Skin

I used to say all micellar water products are the same. Well, I’m taking that back. This makeup remover not only removes makeup, it also makes my skin look better. It wasn’t apparent to me the first few times I used it because it’s hard to isolate which product is doing what–and I was testing out so many different skin care products at the time. One night, I was too lazy to wash my face and used PureVivi to cleanse. I didn’t follow up with anything. I woke up to extra great looking skin. My pores looked somewhat smaller and my face was less oily.

That’s when I remembered to check the ingredients. It has aloe, lactic acid, sodium hyaluronate and a shit ton of fruit extracts. PureVivi seems to be a cleanser-toner hybrid. It’s available at Sephora.ph and costs P667 for a 500ml bottle. It seems expensive for a makeup remover, but it’s around half as cheap as Bioderma Sensibio. Thanks for this, Cheche!

Full ingredients list: Water, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Butylene Glycol, Glycosyl Trehalose, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Xylitol, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Lactic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Glycolate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ziziphus Jujuba Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia Juice, Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-Yuen Seed Extract, Crataegus Cuneata Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Juice, Citrus Medica Limonum Juice, Citrus Grandis Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract.

Etude House AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Spot

My friend, Karen, recommended this to me a million years ago and I want to smack myself on the head for not getting it sooner. If you’re familiar with Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, Etude House AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Spot (P620) is similar. It’s my current favorite spot treatment product. It calms down inflammation almost overnight and when the skin heals, the pimple doesn’t leave a dark mark.

Laneige Perfect Renew Regenerator

I am seriously regretting the many years I’ve been snubbing Korean skin care products, especially the serums!

I bought the Perfect Renew Regenerator (P2k+) more than 2 weeks ago. Again, because of Karen’s hold on my consumerist heart and also because I saw Song Hye-kyo’s billboard along EDSA.

I can’t believe how this can change the way my skin looked overnight. The day after using it, my skin looked supple, pores looked diffused, and my skin had the Galadriel glow. If not for the need to finish up my foundations, I wouldn’t wear one anymore.

I thought it was only a placebo effect (I know, I’m cynical!). So I put it on my husband’s face while he was sleeping. I thought, if he notices anything when he wakes up, the serum is for sure not of this planet. True enough, while he was shaving the next morning, he noticed how good his skin looks (ang pogi daw nya!). Now, I think he secretly looks forward to serum time.

  1. “Ang pogi daw niya”

Haha! Careful Rae. When the boys start to like their skincare, they usually make it your chore dahil “di daw sila marunong”. At least, according to my dad and bf!

  2. Haha, I am also loathe to doing haul posts but sometimes, I guess when you’re on to a winner or two, you just have to shout from the rooftops. I am particularly intrigued by the PureVivi Cleansing Lotion and the Laneige serum. They sound like just what I need for my combo skin that is seeking luminosity. Btw, Korean and Japanese products are the bomb diggity.

  3. I think, as they move to the rest of the asian market and to the western part of the hemisphere, they improved a lot in terms of shade selection.

Ako naman, so used to prescription topical meds sa skin care. I’m also very skeptic about Korean skin care in general. As in sobrang novel ng featured ingredients. Perfect example: snail cream. It’s borderline gimmicky.

  4. Ang mahal nga nya, pero sobrang dami. Parang mas mura pa sya sa bifesta (cheapest I know) kung by ml ang pag-uusapan.

Hey, thanks for the compliment on my photos! Sobra ang struggle ko sa photography, kung pwede lang mag-blog ng walang pictures, I will. Took the tips from a DIY trick on facebook. Gumana naman.

  5. The spot treatment from Etude House has been around for so long and I really hate myself for not checking it out. I’m so used to prescription topicals for acne that I doubt everything that can be bought off-the-shelf.

  6. Just finished that, and ang mahal nga nya to repurchase full price. By the ml., ang sulit nitong Purevivi.

  7. I want to try that, too, when I finish the cushion I just bought from The Face Shop. I like that Laneige caters to medium skin tones now. I thought it was expensive, I didn’t know that the box already includes a refill.

  8. Don’t be too sorry, I feel like you only recommend really great things so it works out.

I’ve only tried the contour stick once and I used the real techniques expert face brush. Was kinda scared of it because it was darker, greyer, and more pigmented than what I usually use (theBalm bahama mama), but I think it looked okay? Haha

I’ll try a sponge next time! Thankss

  9. Waaaah, I’m so sorry!!! How are you liking the contour stick? I’m getting the hang of it now. It’s best blended with a sponge pala.

  10. I just bought the happy skin contour stick because of your post, and now I “need” the serum and the cleansing lotion for when I’m too lazy to double cleanse.

I think you’re the only blogger at the moment that makes me go out of my way to buy things ugh haha

  11. Haha, I think sanay na sya, either that or he’s a closet skin care enthusiast. I noticed that he uses the skin care stuff I put on the counter. :D

  12. Haha buti hindi nagalit si hubby. My bf would kill me of i put beauty prosucts on his face. Nakakaemasculate daw. Grabe i wanna try the laneige serum. I love serums and its true korean serums are good :) cheaper serums like the ones from its skin are good also

  13. The micelar water looks really niice! Here we thankfully have a nice share of options – including the new Hydrabio range from Bioderma – but I would still love to try the PureVivi version!
I have yet to try out laneige’s products. I really wanted to get my hands on their BB cushion since it’s – along with IOPE’s – one of the best-selling cushions.

    Take care*

  14. Will put that Purevivi Cleansing Lotion for Sensitive Skin on future haul after I finish my backup cleansers! I am on my 2nd bottle of the dr.jart and love it but so expensive buti na lang sale siya dati. Hehe.

  15. Ahhh I need that micellar water. All the ones I’ve tried so far don’t leave my skin feeling clean enough. I totally.love that Etude House spot treatment. Only thing that calms down those pesky volcanoes xD

  16. OMG. Kelangan ko ‘yung first two items! Kaso masyado ata akong kuripot for the price of the micellar water. Haha. Ganda ng photos nito, Rae!

  17. You’re welcome… Bibili ako ulit ng purevivi once maubos ko ung mga micellar dito, mga after 3 years siguro. hahahaha.. Kaaliw ung reaction ni Eric! and that LOTR reference.. so nerdy! :p

  18. I feel the same way about Laneige. There was a snubbing that happened with Korean products for two years. It was partly due to my disappointment with their BB cream undertones and partly due to how quickly product lines changed. (It feels like everything is limited edition all the time, and there was a pressure to snag products before they disappeared.) Their sleeping mask really did it for me, and I don’t doubt this serum would be fantastic as well. Ipon-ipon na, pag may time. :))

What do you think?
