Dupes: MAC Lady Danger and Bobbi Brown Jenna

When you say “dupe”, does that mean the duper should be cheaper than the dupee?

Before getting Jenna, I already know that it could be very similar to Lady Danger. But I was hoping that the former would be a little less red and a tad more orange — like MAC So Chaud.

That seems to be the case with my arm swatches below:

Jenna and Lady Danger
Left Swatch = Jenna | Right Swatch = Lady Danger

BUT. On the lips, they look EXACTLY the same!!!

Left = Bobbi Brown Jenna | Right = MAC Lady Danger
Left = Bobbi Brown Jenna | Right = MAC Lady Danger

WHY?!

I opted to let go of Lady Danger because Jenna lasts longer. Other differences I noticed are: Jenna leaves a stronger stain, has more sheen to it, and is more pigmented.

If you’re just after the color, MAC would be a good choice since it’s cheaper (Lady Danger is $16, Rustans Price Php 1,000; Jenna is $26, Rustans Price Php 1,300).

  1. Oh wow, red looks fabulous on you. I think the navy top also helps the colour pop. I can’t tell the difference between the two lipsticks either ;)
    Do you wear much red?

  2. oh Bobbi Brown.. i keep going to their counter after I read a post of yours raving about the creamy mattes but i always end up not getting. Maybe it’s the packaging? I’m an absolute sucker for packaging. I love Lady Danger though. I hope it looks good on me.

  3. A dupes doesn’t have to be always from a less expensive brand :P for an instance I’m thinking about getting some blushes from MAC and Bobbi Brown that according to the Temptalia Dude matrix are good dupes to the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes that I can’t get here :/

This shade look amazing on you! Sadly, it’s look quite weird on me…my complexion doesn’t like orange…

    Take care*

    1. I’ve recently been exploring colors I don’t usually wear. When they say there’s a red for everyone, I thought, maybe there’s an orange for everyone, too.

  4. I spot a microscopic bit of tomatoness / orangeness on Jenna on your lips. Still, the skin swatch shows a bigger difference than the lip swatch. That recently happened to me, too. Thought I found the perfect salmon pero paglapat sa lips ko wow walang kwenta :[

  5. Jenna looks lovely on you! I’ve never tried a Bobbi Brown lipstick before, maybe I will have to give them a go (and I’m a sucker for orangey-red shades). MACs Lady Danger looks super matte on me, while Jenna looks like it would be easier to pull off because of it’s sheen and staining capabilities :)

  6. I always thought the dupe should be the affordable version of something expensive, so Lady Danger is the dupe for Jenna? :)) From the photo, it looks like LD is the part of your lips in the shadows. Are you starting a lip contouring trend? :p

What do you think?
