On Hair + Faux Bob

I usually get my haircut from Mr. Shin of The Beauty Brick. I like that he knows how to cut my hair and he doesn’t engage in small talk. During a haircut, I usually prefer not being talked to.

Anyway, I’m not sure if this is accurate, but I noticed that only Mr. Shin does all the cutting. No one else. Which means, I can’t just walk in whenever I want to expecting that a skilled apprentice would at least be available for a quick trim…

I tried another salon last week and got a disaster of a haircut. My layers were cut in all the wrong places. To make my hair look somewhat acceptable other than in a pony tail, I have to part my hair on the other side.

I’m thinking of setting an appointment with Mr. Shin to get my hair ‘fixed’. But then I thought, why not get a bob?

That might seem like a huge change for people I recently got to know in this lovely beauty blogging community. But actually, it’s only this year that I decided to grow my hair really long — it’s supposed to be a for-a-change type thing.

Bob haircut is my comfort zone.

Told you, I’m animated.

I tried to do a faux bob to see how it would look on me now.

Really tempted to get a bob. The only thing I’m considering against it is I haven’t fully explored this long hair journey. I still haven’t tried getting a perm or an ombre.

  1. Hi there would you mind letting me know which hosting company you’re utilizing?

I’ve loaded your blog in 3 different browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot quicker then most.
Can you suggest a good hosting provider at a
honest price? Many thanks, I appreciate it!

  2. Omg! I’ve experienced the same thing! Nagpatrim lang ako ng hair, nagfly away na lahat ng ends ko and medyo butchered na ung mga layers. sighs Btw, do you know any bleaching products? I was thinking of dying it purple hehe.
    (^^,)

  3. a bob actually looks good on you! I don’t like engaging in small talk too while I’m having my hair cut :/

  4. Akala ko nagpagupit ka na! Hehe. Bagay sa’yo! But, if you want to explore on ombre first, then do it. At least, color lang yun, unlike pag cut, tagal magpahaba ulit. :-P

  5. I also don’t like being talked to while having my hair done, especially those who would attempt to get you undergo some helluva hair treatment that you really don’t need! Kaloka magsales-talk.

Nice cut, by the way! When I had that kind of ‘do, I always wished for my hair not to grow too quickly. Hahaha.

  6. as i was reading down i thought — hmmm parang mas bagay kay rae long hair but when i saw that last pic i changed my mind na. you can really pull it off and you look younger with a shorter hair. ive never tried it before but maybe you could factor in the maintenance? baka its harder? (fly away, not being able to tie it up when needed etc…) but in terms of appearance you look good with short hair :)

    1. My hair is pretty much low-maintenance at any length. I tried the really short boy-cut types din.

I think I look best with short hair, that’s why this year I tried growing my hair really long.

  7. I feel your pain! I’ve been cutting my own hair in the last 3 years, so happy I don’t have to rely on other people to do it right anymore :) I’ll vote to growing it longer! You look really cute with a bob, but if you’ve never had really long hair, it’s fun to try! Mine’s getting close to waist length and it’s the longest it’s ever been. I’m loving it! :)

  8. Love the bob on you! Feels super easy to wear. But maybe experiment first while long hair ka hihi. I want to get a perm lately in the hopes of adding volume kasi waley talaga hair ko. Ang flat huhu

  9. Keep your hair long! Try all the options before you cut it all off! There are so many things I want to try with my hair right now, including a “sombre” (it’s a real thing I swear) so I’m impatiently waiting for it to grow out.

  10. If you can pull it off (which I know you can) then go for it!!! Kung pwede lang ba kong mag pa short hair ng hindi nagkaka-afro or nagmumukang ewan, then gagawin ko! Kaso waley, I would have to style and fix my hair every single hair if I do that :( And I prefer na hindi chikahin din haha

Anyway… “Yes, do eeeeetttt!” – Jess

  11. Me too, I prefer silence. Unless I ask some questions but I don’t want to be asked back with fishy questions. If only I can cut my own hair like a pro.

What do you think?
