Consider this part 2 of my shopping confessional. I’m not sure how many parts there will be. I promised to write haul posts again last December, and other than my Inglot purchase, I haven’t written any other haul post. Now I don’t feel so bad anymore considering that this is 4 months’ worth of shopping. But yes, I acknowledge that I do have a problem and I am working on it.  Click this link if you missed the first one.

Sonia Kashuk Creme Blush

I pre-ordered this from Fred one month ago (including the lip stuff below).

They’re not available locally and Luxola and ASOS don’t carry the brand. Thank universe for people who offer personal shopping services.

I only wanted to get the Undetectable Creme Bronzer. Unfortunately, it was not available so I decided to check out the other SK stuff. Why? I don’t know. I guess what did me in was Fred’s free shipping policy when you reach 3k+. What kind of logic is that? I’m hopeless. :|

The creme blush was a pleasant surprise. I expected it to be like the Bobbi Brown pot rouges but it’s not (in a good way). Bobbi Brown is waxy and wet, while Sonia Kashuk is dry and matte. Both have the same shortevity (get it? :P)

Sonia Kashuk Velvet Matte Lip Pencils

I used to own one of SK’s velvet matte lip pencils before so I knew what to expect with these. I like to use them as lip bases for drier-looking light-colored matte lipsticks. They can also be used on their own or as universal lip liners. I bought pinky nude and berry nude.

These are said to be dupes for the Nars Velvet Matte Pencils in terms of texture and finish. They do seem very similar. It’s unfortunate that the Sonia Kashuk Velvet Matte line only comes in different shades of “nude”.

MAC Paint Pot in Quite Natural

I don’t think I was ever interested in any of the paint pots until Bea swatched Constructivist at the back of my hand. Matte cream textures always catch my attention.

I went to the store intending to buy Constructivist but I ended up going home with something else. I could totally see myself wearing Constructivist, but I already have a dark brown cream eye shadow (see next item) so I went a shade lighter. I’m loving Quite Natural so far. It stays long enough and it doesn’t go all over the place.

Bobbi Brown Longwear Eye Shadow Pencil in Bark

Since I have heavily hooded eyes, it doesn’t make sense for me to put that much work in creating a very precise line. I was on the hunt for a smudgeable-cream-something that “doesn’t smudge” after it sets. I saw this somewhere on youtube and it seemed very convenient to use. I’m using it mostly as an eyeliner and I like that it fades to nothing instead of turning me into a human raccoon.

I almost bought the bronze metallic one but I have a little bit more control with eye stuff. For now, it’s on the list– hopefully until I cross it out or until use up bark.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I’ll also be writing about the new-ish ones — those I bought earlier in the year. That’ll be next.

Hi, I’m Rae and I am a scatterbrain. I am in my 30s and I write in this blog from the Philippines. I spend a tiny portion of my time de-stressing with makeup and skin care. Email: | Instagram: @scatterbraintures

  1. I love sonia kashuk’s concealer and brow palette! :) and I used to buy paint pots until I realized that they dried out quickly (HUHU). I really liked painterly (PERFECT BASE EVER) and rubenesque though! :)

    • Oh no. Sabi ko ba nga ba. Thanks for the tip on the paint pots drying out quickly. I was going to buy a few more but I thought, baka matuyo. I’ll finish one first.

  2. Hihi. Then my Free Shipping for 3k up works? Would you look at that. Haha!
I actually like the SK Velvet Matte LPs. Because they are all nudes!! But the SK is so hard to get. Takes longer to get pa. I like the MAC Paint Pots too! Thinking of getting the Painterly or Soft Ochre soon. But not just yet.

  3. I’m waiting for more from you, Rae. I have a list that I really wanna buy na. But I really don’t wanna touch my money yet and I hate that I’m too responsible about these things :/ I hate that I have makeup back in perspective. I miss my crazy shopping days!!!!!

  4. That’s actually not such a bad haul for 4 months! I feel like patting myself on the back for purchasing just 4 items for the past month and a half.

    • Yey! I’m glad you think so, hahahaha! Hopefully you can still say the same after the 3rd installment.

  5. I think Quite Natural would work great as a base. But I’m still eyeing Soft Ocher for that purpose. Damn. Pahabaan ng listahan. Huhu. And hello, I like that Sonia Kashuk cream blush. Hmm.. I shall order.

    • I want soft ochre too and ang ganda mg review ni karen ( about it

What do you think?
