The ‘I Went To A Wedding’ Face

This is an attempt to recreate the face I wore to my friends’ wedding.  Please congratulate me for posting my first ever FOTD in almost 4 years of blogging.  Hahaha.

MAC Velvet Teddy Swatch

This is kind of a fail because I totally forgot to conceal my undereye, apply mascara, and line my right waterline (your left) with a flesh-toned liner.

Face: Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer (applied very thinly) finished with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. I bought Kevyn Aucoin from MUPStore.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how skin-like Kevyn Aucoin SSE is? Anyway, I applied it a little bit heavier than this on the event. You wouldn’t see the redness around my nose and the slight undereye darkness that’s peeking through.

Cheeks: I’m wearing Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pretty Powerful and, with a very light hand, I contoured with Etude House Face Corset #5. To highlight, I used Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incandescent Light.

MAC Velvet Teddy Swatch 2

Brows: Pinkies Collection Cream Eyeliner (Black)

Eyes: Bobbi Brown Eye Pencil in Chocolate; Black Cocoa and Brown Sugar Eyeshadow (all from the Bobbi and Katie palette). On the waterline is Nars Rue Bonaparte. (For mascara, Fairy Drops Volume Burst Waterproof — not worn on the photo)

Everyone, I would like you to meet E. E, say hello to everyone.  The flash washed me out completely but I’m fine with it.

Lips: MAC Velvet Teddy.  I panicked (not really) several days before the wedding because I didn’t have a lipstick that will go well with a midnight blue dress. Thankfully, Tupped Boutique had Velvet Teddy on hand.

What do you think of the pale lipstick? I’m not used to this type of color. But I think it turned out ok. Somehow. I hope.

Oh, and please tell me in the comments if you like this type of post.

  1. Haha. i was laughing at the catchy title. I realized i needed to do one of these wedding guest face since i’m also going to a wedding soon :P

  2. i almost bought Kevyn Aucoin last week but then i noticed on some pics that it was too similar to thebalms highlighter mary lou manizer (is it?) and although i love that shade i was looking for a more pinkish tone. congrats on your first FOTD!! many more to come :D

    1. Oh, I don’t have their highlighter. I only have the foundation (sensual skin enhancer)

I don’t like The Balm’s Mary Lou-manizer because of the shimmer. But I like hourglass.

    1. It is. Because my lips are naturally pale. It’s almost the same shade as my lips, only the tone is different.

I still classified it as a pale lipstick though :p

  3. MOAR FOTDs!!~~ but seriously though! And I love KA SSE too!!super duper skin-like! :-) Love the whole look Rae and nude actually looks good on you no BS.

    1. Kevyn Aucoin SSE is one of the best decisions I made this year despite already having too many foundations already, haha.

Velvet Teddy is the first and only pale lipstick I bought. Good thing it worked.

  4. Your contacts look so Twilight! Haha. I always see you around Victoria and Mama S’s blog so I decided to visit yours. Just spent the last 45 minutes reading through most of it. :) Rae is so close to Ray. Hehe. Oh, the SSE my one true love. Great look!

    1. Hi Ray!

Haha, it’s the first time someone told me that about my contacts. Hopefully, I can get rid of them soon. Planning to get lasik.

Thanks so much for spending some of your time here. I really appreciate it.

  5. Horray for your first FOTD Rae! I wouldn’t notice about the missing makeups if you didn’t tell. Love the look! By the way, where did you get your Hourglass palette? They say it’s sold out everywhere na :(

    1. I asked my brother to get it for me when he went to the states :p That was November last year. I don’t usually write about stuff agad but I’m rethinking if I should. :p

  6. Sometimes it really boggles my mind how much makeup must be used to look like you have no makeup on. :D You look pretty fresh and all-natural so by my books you did a pretty good job. Although personally I would have preferred you with darker lip color. ;)

    1. Me too. I think it’s almost the same as putting a full on makeup-ed face, only the colors you use are closer to what’s considered natural.

I wasn’t going for the no makeup makeup look though, but I don’t know any other makeup look, hahaha.

  7. I honestly didn’t notice that you missed applying concealer, mascara and liner. lol! You look fresh! I like how perfected your base especially the glow and flush on your cheeks. Post more of fotds, Rae!

    1. I was actually really surprised that it looked ‘fresh’. Even during the wedding when I put a little more foundation. I didn’t expect that from a full-coverage face base. Everyone was making comments about my skin looking so smooth. And I told them, it’s not my skin, it’s makeup.

What do you think?
