I can’t sleep and since it’s already 5 hours since the clock struck 2013, I thought I might as well post something.
I’m at my parents’ place and as I was doing my nightly hygiene routine, I came up with a bright idea of sharing what I bring with me when I go out of town for the weekend or to a staycation.
This is what my weekender vanity kit looks like. As you can tell, I don’t bring a lot.
The bag is actually the packaging of aquazorb towels. One of the sides is mesh which makes it perfect to be used as a vanity kit. It doesn’t get that foul-smelling damp dishrag odor.
Here’s what I bring:
Toothbrush and toothpaste (of course). The deodorant–I put that somewhere else in my bag.
I usually bring samples. Currently, I have samples of Obagi Gel Cleanser, Skinfood Gold Caviar Toner, and Gold Caviar Moisturizer.
I also bring cotton pad for the toner. I place that in that plastic pouch that used to be a packaging for sanitary pads. In 2012, I made a decision to reduce waste and re-purpose many of the stuff around me.
I bring a tinted complexion product with SPF, and a cheek stain. This time I brought Shiseido Sun Stick but I’ll be running out soon so I’ll probably bring Mary Kay Timewise tinted moisturizer of Maybelline bb stick (both has SPF).
I don’t usually bring (or use) a lip balm but since I’m trying to use up all the lip balms I have, I brought one with me as a moisturizer for the hands and feet. The Nivea Pinkish Boost lip balm is not sticky so it works just fine.
I leave out shampoo and liquid soap coz it’s impossible that hotels (and my parents) won’t have them. But if I’m going to stay at a friend’s house, I’ll bring a travel-sized shower gel for hair and body (as I said, I don’t bring a lot of stuff). My favorite hair and body gels are from Lush and Human Heart Nature.
I enjoy reading staycation/ vacation kikay kit posts, so feel free to share yours in the comments section. I particularly remember reading Genzel’s Palawan Kikay Kit and Jill’s staycation entry (
unfortunately, I couldn’t find the link, found it!), but it was when she went to a japanese’y spa place.
P.S. Here’s my workday kikay kit.
